Men Of Teal 2017 - 30 Days of Awareness

Hope for Heather selects 30 men each year to be men of Teal. Each day in September a different Man of Teal is featured with a photo and a message about their commitment to spread awareness. 30 Community leaders take the pledge to spread Ovarian Cancer Awareness
In celebration of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. They are equipped with symptom cards and ribbons and will spread awareness to their work and community circles for the whole month. Meet Eddie Jones, News Photographer at NewsChannel 9 in Syracuse. The signs of cancer in Eddie's family started with him back in 2010 when he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. Later, one of Eddie's sisters learned she had cancer in her fallopian tubes. Like ovarian cancer, the signs of fallopian cancer went undetected because one of the symptoms such as bloating appeared to be common.

From Russell: "I lost a niece at 3 years old. She had a brain tumor that they traced back to my sister-in-law having Ovarian Cancer while she was pregnant. That was back in the 70's before it was screened.

Meet Bill Martin, co-owner of a family of wineries and distilleries. As you can see in the photo, Bill, and Montezuma Winery is rocking teal with a new Hope Rosé -- proceeds benefitting H4H. From Bill: "I lost my aunt last year to endometrial cancer. When she passed she made very nice donations to the Fulton Public Library, Golisano Children's Hospital and Oswego County Opportunities. I found it ironic that she didn't donate to research for the cancer that caused her death.

She stayed a short while with us then went back to NYC and passed. We were with her when she died. So tragic and so young.
