$5K Grant from the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation

Updated: Jan 18, 2021

June 2019 - Syracuse, NY

Hope for Heather is proud to partner with the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation to fight against cancer through research and advocacy. Their foundation provided a $5,000 grant to support the efforts of Hope for Heather volunteers spreading ovarian cancer awareness at the New York State Fair. With this grant, Hope for Heather was able to secure materials to distribute over 50,000 teal ribbons and ovarian cancer symptom cards to interested woman, families and medical professionals. There is no pre-screening test for ovarian cancer so it is typically not diagnosed until the it has spread to other tissues and organs. Outcomes are much better when the cancer is detected in the early stages. Without a test - Awareness is crucial in fighting this cancer, the cancer with silent symptoms. We thank the Jim and Juli Boeheim foundation for their support of cancer advocacy and awareness in CNY and making it possible to spread awareness at the 2019 NY State Fair.
