30,000 TEAL Ribbons Color NY State Fair
Ovarian Cancer Awareness for 90,000 Women

9/06/2011 - Hope for Heather (H4H) volunteers worked in groups of two, four, or ten to create a massive 30,000 TEAL colored ribbons to help spread Ovarian Cancer Awareness to the almost 1,000,000 NY State Fair attendees. The TEAL Ribbon awareness project is made possible through a grant from Macy's. Teams of Hope for Heather volunteers staffed the H4H both in the Art and Home (Newtimes Theater & Empire Room) building. This effort reached a pinacle on Friday September 2, 2011 when the team and the nation celebrated National Wear Teal Day. Thousands stopped at the booth and got your FREE TEAL ribbon and symptom card for themselves or a loved one. WSYR Channel 9 featured Ovarian Cancer Awareness on the Family Healthcast Hosted by Carrie Lazarus on September 1st at 5:00PM. H4H President Frieda Weeks appeared with Carrie. Volunteers Needed for 30,000 TEAL Ribbon Project
04/03/2011 Hope for Heather needs volunteers to help us paint the New York State Fair TEAL this year and spread OC awareness to the almost 1 million attendees. Last year volunteers passed out 10,000 ribbons and shared awareness with 30,000 women from across NY State. This year we will have a coupon in the program, presence on the website and announcements. We expect to give away 28,000 ribbons this year. We need your help to spread the word. Assembling ribbons is easy and fun. Get together with a couple friends and you can assemble 300 ribbons in 90 mins or less while you chat and sip tea. Have a party, help the cause, feel good and spread awareness to friends, all at the same time. H4H supplies all materials in ribbon kits for 300 ribbons. Interested? email support@hopeforheather.org
